All published novels have, either on the back cover or inside the front flap, a 'blurb' - a short excerpt of text where the novel is summarised for potential readers.
Have you been hit by a passing blurb that landed in your head all ready for the novel to be written? Or have you laboured hard over your blurb?
I want this to be the place to share blurbs! Where you can post one you wrote for a novel you're working on and see how it might grab readers, or post one that you just randomly thought of to see if it gets people's attention, or even if you want to offer it up for others to see what they might make of it. If you want help with writing one, this might even be the place to go. It has to be better to write your own blurb rather than let someone else do it: several great books flopped because someone else wrote the blurb and it simply wasn't appealing (or, in some cases, anything like the novel in question!).
I'm doing this page because I got hit by a passing blurb a while back, and now I have no clue what to do with it. I
will do something with it... just it's a pain to do. I think it'd be great to share blurbs with others, see their reactions and basically, to reiterate everything I said before, to talk about the joys and hardships of writing and just how the heck you summarise a massive plot you love into a few short, catchy sentences.
You could post your blurb as part of your writings, or on a new wikipage, or here: everything's good. :)
Format
I think the best way to format your blurbs, if you post them on this page, is as follows:-
Name: [
...Name...]
Story: The name of the story or novel it comes from.
Notes: Any notes you have on it - how difficult it was to write or how it came to mind, for example.
Blurb: The blurb itself.
If you don't post it / them directly to this page, then you could swap
Blurb (and possibly
Notes) for a link to your wikipage or writing page.

Name: [
Kachi]
Story: Untitled
Notes: This actually came into my head shortly after NaNo05 whilst I was sat in my old office. I have
no idea where it came from, but I like it. all I have to do now is work out how to write it! That's what the bits in square brackets are: markers for places where I have simply no clue what the plot is. And as you can see, that's, well, all of it...
Blurb: When Sarah Palmer is found floating face down in a swimming pool, it is classified by the police as a simple suicide. But one man has other ideas. Having had a passing acquaintance with the deceased woman, James believes that there is more to this than meets the eye. What had she [
such and such], and who was [
so and so] that she had called only an hour previously?
In a world inhabited by dark secrets and hidden identities, James must find out the true reasons behind the death of the beautiful young heiress and at the same time deal with his own life and problems that are bizarre even for the world he lives in.
Name: [

Story: The Sankei Chronicles (working title)
Notes: This is the working synopsis for a novel I am in the process of writing. What I've got so far is posted under my writings so check it out and tell me what you think of it if you get the chance! I guess the $1,000,000 question is: Would this make you wanna drop down $7.95 at Barnes and Noble for the paperback?
Blurb: In the tiny barony of Numanodai, hidden deep in the treacherous Sankei Mountains a young girl of a minor ruling
bushido House trains devotedly with hopes of being accepted at Court in the far away capitol of Shuuto. At the same time however, her father and her people are in the midst of a brutal civil war. When the tide takes a turn for the worse young Naomi's eyes are unexpectedly opened to a magical, often frightening new world of kitsune fox people, vicious ogre-like oni, and frightening Akuma demons. In these strange and uncomfortable surroundings she must also learn to come to grips with her own personal tragedy and loss, learning to forge dreams anew when old ones fade away...
