2005-12-30 Emily: So sad, but absolutely perfect. Not one much for poetry, its flow was great and the story was lovely! It reminded me of Greek mythology, when Selene falls in love with a mortal man, but she fears to lose him so she makes him sleep for eternity, a sleep that keeps him preserved. I forgot what happened after that, but I think he woke up and ran away with his sheep (he was a shepherd), and a pretty girl.[Kelaria]: 155. Moon's Mortal Lover (Poem)
Rating: 0.00
As the sun sets,
The moon takes over
Bringing with her,
The darkness of night.
Oh how she longs
For her mortal lover,
A man who had once
Sung sweetly her name.
Now she waits
For his tender voice
To caress the night air
Singing to her of love.
But the moon waits in vain,
For her lover has forgotten
The promise he made her
When last they met.
Patiently she waits,
And then hears his song
Not calling to her
But singing to another.
She spies her lover
Walking hand-in-hand
With a young mortal maiden
Whose hair shines like golden sun.
And so moon sinks low,
Her heart hurt and broken
For the loss of her love,
The man she held so dear.
And on the horizon
She meets up with the Sun
And hears tales of his lover,
The golden haired maiden
Moon's lover had won.
