There is a concept we have in our minds, use as a metaphor; that little glimmer of wavering frailty that endures against the harsh and the violent.
A glimmer of light amidst darkness, a speck of hope amidst despair, a pit of joy amidst sadness, a flickering courage amidst fear, the very last resort.
All of it sums up to the idea, the notion of… candle… the fire at its weakest, trying to survive on nothing but the very air that tries to snuff it out, is the very personification of the virtues that overwhelming circumstances demand of our soul.
