2007-08-28 Annie: This is such a great poem! I love the frankness of it all. It's just something happening, some simple thoughts of jumping off a balcony.[Kiddalee]: 225.Poetry.Fre

There is a balcony
In the drama room.
It's not too high to jump
So I climb the grateish industrial stairs.
I'm going to jump. I take off my cumbersome shoes.
There is a banister there, for safety.
There is a banister.
It's difficult to climb over.
I cannot stand on the edge without hanging
on the banister.
When I try to climb through, fear grips me.
That's when I decide not to jump:
Because the banister, built for safety,
got in my way and only made jumping more difficult; and more dangerous.
The lines "I cannot stand on the edge without hanging
on the banister." are a little bumpy. Other than that, it sounds awesome!
