As gods themseves, Chapter one (Saline)
Genre:
Biographical
I still don’t know how she got me into this. I usually blame her eyes. When she turns her big blue eyes to me and says “Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease”, how can I possibly resist? Though I’m pretty sure she was also manipulating my mind. Yup, that’s our very own Xirantha!
I wasn’t even sure yet what I should do. She had only told me to travel to the capital of Reygash, kingdom where I live in. She would give me further instructions as I would get far enough. So, there I was, sitting on a horseback. And then I heard something I hadn’t expected.
“Saline? Is that really you?”
I looked around me and saw that ahead me, on an old stump was standing tall young-looking man, watching me with amazement.
“Yes. It is me. Long time no see, Dag. What are you doing here?”
He jumped down from that stump.
“I was happily at home, spending quality-time with my books when Xilath appeared there. He told me to come here and wait for some one.”
I blinked. What were they up to? Were they trying to get our old gang back up? I thought we had already got over and done with the world saving business. Was now something wrong again?
“For me, Xirantha told to head to the capital by main road.” I replied to him.
For a while, he looked at me, and then he reacted exactly the same way I had reacted.
“What are they up to?” He spurted out.
I shook my head.
“I have no idea, my dear friend. How can you say what gods are up to?”
He snorted.
“Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if we would meet rest of us on our way to the capital.”
“Me neither”, I replied.

We made a camp as the night fell over the peaceful countryside. We sat next to bonfire and talked until it was already very late. Because we had not seen each other for a long time. And last time we had been together in the group that had been serious. You know, there was ten of us. I was the only one from my world. Yes, you heard me correctly. From my world. Since unlike many others, we ten know the truth. There’s more than only one god. There’s more than only one world. Creator and goddess of my world was Xirantha of water. Dag came from a world created by Xilath, his element was ground. Everyone of us represented some one of the eleven gods. Yes, eleven. And there was only ten of us. Well, we all ten together represented the eleventh god, goddess Xolethane. For Xolethane is the oldest of the all gods and she’s their leader. When one of the younger gods holds powers of one element, Xolethane holds the power of all the elements.
As you might have guessed already, my powers are the powers of water and Dag holds the powers of ground.

When we woke up in the morning, we had company. A woman with reddish hair and silver star-tattoo on her shoulder was sitting next to the cold coals. She grinned as she saw me and came to hug me.
“Nice to see you again, Saline!” she said to me smiling happily.
She was Cheryza. High priestess of goddess Xalitha of light.
“Let me guess, Xalitha told you to find me?” I said to her and smile lightened my face also.
“That’s correct.” She replied and tightened her grip of her sword.
“I see you’re not alone.” she nodded to Dag who had just waken up.
“Morning, Dag!”
“Yea yea, morning Cheryza.” he replied still half-asleep. After taking few steps to the river bend he finally realized what he just had said.
“Cheryza!” he ran to greet her.
I couldn’t help laughing.
“I’m not alone either”, Cheryza grinned after she had greeted Dag. And so we saw it, something wasn’t quite right with her shadow. It had a shape of a man. And we saw how her shadow started to change, until a black haired man was standing in front of us.
“Nel! I had forgotten you do that stuff”, Dag said and went to give him a bear-hug.
Cheryza winked at me.

And so, there was already four of us from the whole ten. Me, Saline of water, Dag of ground, Cheryza of light and Nela of darkness. Obviously, there was something going on... But what could that be?
