As gods themselves chapter 2 (Cheryza)
Genre:
Biographical
There was still six of us missing. You know, from all the ten I am the only one who also is a high priestess. Five of us only have the power of their element. Those five are Naydan of fire, Resh of air, Manye of nature, Gab of ground and Leisha of ice. Rest of us, like I do, have also other powers.
As I said already before, six of us are still missing. But I am sure we will meet them on our way to... Uh, where we even were heading to?
“Saline, you mind telling me where we even are going now?”
Saline laughed.
“We’re going to the capital of this kingdom... If we then even get that far.”
“True, I could bet that we only get to halfway until they come to tell us what we’re supposed to this time.” Nela said grinning.
We easily formed pairs And by that I don’t mean we’d be anything more than just friends. Unlike gods, we all ten aren’t siblings. And I am not twins with Nela. Xalitha and Xenath, the gods we two represent, are twins. To be more accurate, all the gods except Xolethane, forms five pairs of twins. Their twin holds the opposite element, just like I hold light and Nela hold darkness. Or then, the twins power is conditioned by your power like Saline has water and Gab has ground.
And though Nela has the power of darkness, he is not evil.

It was about a midday and Saline was riding with her horse while we others walked by her side. Then suddenly a bolt of a lightning hit the ground right next to us. You can just guess how loud scream Saline let out and how we jumped up of sudden fright. But the we saw that right in that spot the lightning had stroke, was now standing tall and slim man with a bushy yellowish blond beard.
“Wyn” Nice to see you!” Gab said brightly.
“But in Xirefas name don’t do that again!” Saline yelled irritated.
“Nice to see I’ve been missed that much.” Wyn said sarcastically.
“Oh, you just scared us nearly to death”, Nela laughed.
“And that showing of!” I rolled my eyes. “What would you say, if now a blinding-bright beam of light would come from the sky next to you?”
We all laughed and we continued our walk – or riding – chatting lightly. Until we got disturbed again. But this time it wasn’t any of the missing five members of our gang.
A dark figure was standing quietly in the middle of the road in front of us. A demon.
“I’ve been waiting for you”, it said on its raspy voice.
“How sweet of you”, Saline said coldly. Then she turned to look at us. “Who?” She did not need to say more, we understood what she meant. Who wanted to send the demon back from where it had come?
“May I?” I said. “I mean, all the demons are originally born from darkness... I think for me this is the easiest... Or, who else wants to take care of him?” I pointed at the demon growling at us.
“Allright then, you may have this one”, Wyn said. “But the next demon we face is mine.”
Others laughed as I walked up to face the demon.
“Good day”, I started politely. “Could you please tell me, why you were waiting for us?”
“That is none of your business!” he bellowed at me. Obviously he found my politeness annoying.
“Is that so? Well, too bad for you”, I said and now my voice was cold as ice. I stretched my hand forward and a ray of light, brighter than sunlight streamed forward and the demon cried for pain. And then it exploded.
“Nice job”, Gab congratulated me.
“Thank you”, I smiled.
“This proves it then”, Nela said gloomily.
“Proves what, Nel?” Wyn asked.
“That something is going on...” Nela answered.
“True. When last time you were attacked by a demon?” Saline asked.
“Last time our group was whole.” I replied.
We all fell silent. Though I didn’t read their minds I knew we all thought the same. What was going on this time?

At nightfall we camped. My mood fell.
“Why so annoyed, Cheryza?” Saline asked from me.
“Clouds”, I said shortly.
“Excuse me?” Saline said confused.
Nela laughed and answered to her for me.
“It is cloudy, so the stars are veiled. So there is no natural light around us. And that makes Cheryza weaker.”
“And like we all know that is what Cheryza hates”, said a gentle female voice from darkness around us. A dark-haired woman came to the light of bonfire.
“Indeed you know me too well”, I said and couldn’t help smiling.
And then we all hurried to hug and greet Manye warmly.
She was the sweetest and most gentle of all of us. She felt similarity to all living beings. She was like Mother Nature herself.
Soon after Manye, seventh member of our group had joined us, we went off to bed. And when we woke up again, we noticed we had even more company.
