Tale of the Girl from an Unconventional World
The Tale of the Girl from an Unconventional World

She's a lone-town girl
In an unconventional world.
So unbelievably unconventional.

"I haven't got a friend", she would say to sky
And through the years and what comes next
With the softness of a sigh
Lifted up and up and high

How did she get this far?
Where has she come from?
Well, past the moon and every star.
Fallen from an empty world
That just happens to be
So unbelievably conventional.

Apple trees and birdies
In a backpack full of woe
This girl with eyes of starry skies
And things you'll never know
Carries empty jars and turtle shells
To put out for the show

Now often she would wonder
If the farewell came and went
Or if she missed it in the postcard
That she wished you'd never sent

And then one day she took a walk
Into the ocean; deep and blue
And she decided that coming back
Was something that she couldn't do
So she left an empty bottle
(Or perhaps it was a jar?)
With a message for the friends
Who come from near and far

"I have gone home from this world,
World of unconventiality;
And borrowed something special; most
farfetched from this normality."

"I've found the friends, But much too late,
And I've gone and shut the gate.
So past the stars and broken cars
I'd ask kindly that you wait
For all of a certain date
Wherever Jupiter and Mars
Became mine and became ours."

"So I've found me a farewell
In neither heaven nor in hell
In a place I know too well
And a place I cannot tell"

And with that the girl of days
Left and parted in the waves
And heard within the misty sea
"Farewell unconventiality"

The End

2008-08-16 bloody kisses: This was absolutely beautiful. The tone was bare and yet held so much that you couldn't see, this was great. You're a very graceful poet!
