This is a poem I wrote for any vampires who actually do feel compassion for the human race, as impossible as it may seem, I do know a few.
My boyfriend put this poem to music and made it into one of the most haunting songs I've ever heard. It really was amazing though.

Six Feet Under

Lay them down into their graves
raise a stone and carve their names
don't shed a tear; no time to cry
because it won't be the last goodbye.

We've buried friends, and children, too
it's become our lives; it's what we do
not everyone rises from the dead
our past and future is stained red

When your soul is empty and dark as night
you know there's nothing left but to fight
wait out the rain, listen to the thunder
and fight for those who are six feet under.

Placing roses on the tombs
we know they left us far too soon
but we forge on, we make our way
until the night overcomes the day.

The moon, she rises; crimson night
we bid goodbye to the day-time light
We rule in darkness, shadows we reign
and let the night-time hide our pain.

Not a breath we breathe, our hearts are still
our blood is cold, and we crave to kill
they grow old and we remain, we wonder
the ones we love are six feet under.

For them, naive, our battle's fought
we fight to protect what they cannot
though we've killed their brethren like cattle
for them we fight this one last battle.

Compassion is the mortal sin
yet still they are our blood-bound kin
born into the human tree
we can't abandon family.

Eternal, the chain goes on this way
they will die, and we'll remain
And our differences, asunder
they'll always be six feet under.
