And what do you think you're doing then,
All glowing eyes and aching smiles and laughter that punches too hard
And splits up the night and cuts and cracks across the stone of the pavement
Little children hear you from bed and your boots click twice with each step
As the stiletto stabs at the ground, and what, you think the night embraces you?
You fucking child. You think it will cushion you against your fall?
That soft night black, you think it won’t hurt so much if you don't see
When you topple over you'll float gently down into summertime shadows and
Low voiced laughter
And you don't realise that you'll be sitting under a streetlight
With mascara dripping onto the sidewalk.
