Savior or Sabatoge?

Nimeesha stood in Kauna's doorway, the boy slumped over her back. She was wearing a black graphic T-shirt, and a baggy pair of black cargos. Her hair had been free'd from it's usual hairstyle, and now hung loosely around her shoulders and back in weak curls. "How do I look?" she asked softly, chewing her lip nervously.

"Normal, for once," Kauna said, laughing. "Oh, and here, open your eyes wide," She reached forward and delicately placed color contacts in Nim's eyes. Her apprentice blinked a few times, and then looked back at her with soulful brown eyes, unlike her bizzare yellow ones. "There. Now you're perfect. You'd better be on your way, though. That young man will be waking up soon,"

Nim groaned softly as she shrugged him higher onto her back. "Yeah... Oh man, does this guy overeat, or what?" she said, struggling to stand straight. "Why can't he just..."

"Be a FeatherSpirit like you, and seemingly weigh a meager twenty pounds?" Kauna said, with a sly grin. "Be off with you! And don't forget this little one, here," She picked up the wooden carving and tucked it into one of Nim's many pants-pockets. "She'll be important to you later on,"

Nim nodded and set off out the door. It wasn't until she was deep into teh forest that she stopped dead in her tracks, blinked, and dropped the boy down with a sudden 'Thunk!'. She walked away from him, and began rummaging through pockets, tearing open velcro and buckles and snaps, until her fingers finally brushed across the black polished wood of the carving. She yanked it from her pocket and stared at it. "Kauna... Called it a 'she'... As if, as if it were... Alive..." Her eyes grew wide as she stared at it. "What in the world are y-"

Rustle. Nim shoved the carving into her pocket in a panicked flurry and whirled herself around. The young man lay on the ground, moaning softly. "Owwww..." His forehead creased above his tightly shut eyes as he rubbed a shaking hand across his shoulder.

Nim, breathing hard, tried to remember her plan. She licked her lips, composed herself, and then began to run towards the boy. "Oh!! Are you ok?" she cried, dropping to the ground beside him. "Are you hurt?"

"Unn... No," he said quietly, sitting up. "I... What happened? Who are you?" He looked at Nim confusedly, as though he had never seen her before in his life. The teenage girl mentally thanked every single god and good luck charm she had ever known.

"I was just walking through the forest, and I saw you standing here! Your eyes just went blank, and you fell to the ground!" Nim cried, trying to sound just as confused and shocked as the boy did. She put an arm behind him to help him sit up easier.

"R... Really?" He asked, placing a hand on her shoulder and trying to stand. Nim rose slowly, supporting him as he got to his feet. "Maybe it was heat stroke or something," he murmured, looking around the sunny clearing. Without the tree's shelter here, one could easily get overheated.

"Yeah! You should've had a water bottle with you or something!" Nim cried, nodding rapidly. "Here, can you walk?" She began to lead him, taking slow, small steps. "Where do you live?"

The boy walked weakly beside her, an arm draped over her shoulders, and the other holding her outstretched hand. Nim's other arm supported his waist as they made their way back into the trees. "I live just on the edge of the forest... That way," He pointed, and began to walk a little faster.

"Yeah? That's not too far. I'll make sure you get there, though," Nim said, trying to smile as best she could. //"He seems pretty roughed up... I feel terrible,"// she thought, starting to lengthen her steps. The boy seemed to be getting his strength back quickly, and it relieved ehr some.

"Thanks... Thanks a LOT," He said, with a tired laugh. "I don't think I'd've make it out of there by myself. What's your name?"

She smiled. "Nimeesha,"

"Pretty. I'm Amiri,"

"Nice to meet you, Amiri."
