covers her wrists and fingers with her sleeves
presses her palm against the misty window, stands outside
looks inside

stands inside and looks out
how can it always be raining

               maybe remembers what it was like to be little
                 before she knew how much she weighs, maybe not

Claudia speaks silently:
thin dreams fade before dawn
the rain washes out the blue smoke
