Name: Ira
Gender: Both, or neither, depends on your view of things
Age: 2,431 years
Race: Haunt – Wraith
Personality: Ira, Latin for ‘Wrath’, is true to his name in every respect. He is a fearsome, vengeful being bent only on a single purpose: showing the world his rage. Being as such, he has developed quite the ‘mundane’ personality, in some people’s eyes, but not in the eyes of any actually brave enough to look him in the eyes.
Ira is known for his non existent sense of self control, and most of all for his incredibly short fuse. He will anger at anything and everything for whatever reason fits at the moment. Coupled with this immense rage is the unbridled desire to exact revenge, to punish those who make him feel that way. In this sense, he knows no limits to what he will do, and is almost constantly in what seems like a blind rage against eternity, against everything.
However, living in a blind rage constantly has actually allowed him to develop a consciousness inside of that rage, because even the blind learn how to deal with their disability. He may not be able to truly name or remember why he is angry, but now he is far more ruthless due to his knowledge of his frenzied power. Imagine it, if you can, a being who forgets all their limits in an incredible fury, and yet still retains a mind which knows how to control themselves in a manner that the truly blind cannot. It’s a combination that makes Ira one of the most feared Haunts in existence, sometimes even among his own kind; or, at least the ones who can feel fear.
He is not calculating. He is not the most intelligent of beings. He’s not even brilliant by any standards. Ira is simple-minded creature, who is simply able to exhibit the limitless power of a mindless brute, while retaining the knowledge of his target and their limitations.
Appearance: Wraiths are creatures of shadow, beings without a definite form or shape that float through the air, or stalk their prey on the ground, in a typically spectral body. Ira is no different. His main figure has the appearance a large, shredded and frayed cloth hung over an invisible shadow that hangs in the air. The ‘cloth’ is incredibly black, a black of the variety that seems to suck light out of the air around it, only enhancing its dark hue. The holes and scarred edges that litter his body are not physical wounds in any sense of the sort, but rather a reflection of his mind and spirit, which have grown over the years, but still suffer from the damages of coexisting with infinite rage.
Amidst the darkness of this cloth, and oftentimes visible through the tears, are long silver claws. Each is almost 2 feet in length, and shaped like a sickle blade, meant for rending through flesh, bone, even stone and worked metal if necessary. They are horrifyingly sharp as well, unworn, and undamaged even after nearly two and a half millennia of use. There are precisely 13 of these claws underneath the cloak of his body, and Ira can form ‘hands’ of sorts by grouping any number of them together into shapes that resemble warped metallic bird’s feet. The blades themselves are not truly ‘attached’ to his body, in any respect, and this allows the blades to emerge from any point on his body for a lethal attack without so much as a hint of a warning.
The final note to his appearance is Ira’s eyes. Ira has eyes that would send even the most vicious predators whimpering away. The bravest warriors in history have faltered from mere glances from this Haunt’s glowing black eyes. It’s not entirely comprehendible how a being of eternal blackness could have eyes that were blacker than even that, but Ira does. His eyes shine with an ambient darkness that is all engulfing. They drain away the will to live, to fight, to even stand while caught in the path of their gaze. They are not cold, they are not fierce, they are not beautiful, they are not, some question, even there. They are simply holes in the fabric of eternity.
Target: None, for the moment.
History: Ira, the wraith, is an ancient being that has existed for much of humanity’s history. He has tempted men and women alike, tormenting their existences ever since he was born. Even in his youngest years, Ira was feared for his dreadful ruthlessness and the speed at which he worked, shattering dreams, people, and theirs minds one after the other in rapid succession, as if a cyclone that ripped apart anything in its path.
Truly enough, he and 6 others were what later became known as ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ (Ira being known as “Wrath” in English terms). Although the 7 never truly worked together, much less met each other, their torments among mankind led to their descriptions being eternally coded into humanity and its history books. Although there have, of course, been other great evils among the Haunts that humanity has known of, Ira has survived a test of time in that he is one of the oldest of said terrors.
Besides this, not much can be said for history unless it be only the most basic of details. He has Haunted hundreds, if not thousands throughout his life, and ne’er has a single one of his victims escaped his grasp once held in it. Death has been the only merciful being to those whom Ira chooses as a target, and probably the only thing that ever shall be considered so.
Rhyme:
Let not them get away from you
But anger fill your heart
They all will be your enemy
But I shall be friendly to thee
So let the vengeance start…
