For the first time in who knew how long, he felt it again as he fell. The lost emotion. It was something so unlike anything he could remember knowing for so long. There was nothing pleasant about the feeling, it was dark like the world around him, but somehow it made him warm to have it again. Like a needle in your side that was always there causing you pain, but if it was taken away you'd somehow feel empty. Lost. Cold. Assuming he remembered right it was... fear.
Even with that though, the fall was different than he expected. Below, the torn earth seemed to grow in size as he plummeted, as if welcoming him to a painful end that he knew would simply never really come. The cliff face rocketed upwards, its dull, lifeless edges all but a single blur to him. A few of those trapped there watched the seemingly immobile body fall towards its painful landing. But, somehow, he never hit the ground...
Around the time during the descent where he should have been torn asunder by the edge of the slabs of ground that smiled at him, the man stopped. He hadn't closed his eyes until now, and in doing so he whispered a soft 'Thank you...' before looking up at the force that had caused his sudden halt.
Twin wings, pure and white had made their way out of his shoulder blades and were, somehow or another, beating on their own. They were feathered, and gracefully beat down, lifting him back up at a slow, calm pace that made him grin. His sister had come for him...
