You may ask, “what does ‘us‘ mean”? Let me explain this bit. But let me warn you that this thing I’m about to tell is strange and almost unbelievable. Please bear with me now.
I am not human, well, not completely. I’m only partially human. How can this be though? It seems impossible doesn’t it? I am a wolf too. Part human and part wolf as it is. I’m a shape-shifter, skin-walker, half-breed, hybrid, or whatever you want to call myself.
I am able to transform into a wolf at moments notice, yet back to a human form when I desire to. I really don’t understand it, but I’m not the only one of my kind. Maybe we weren’t meant to understand it though.
There are nine of us I know of. We form a sort of “pack”, as in our wolf pack. There are quite a few of us considering and we live deep within a humongous forest region of oak and pine trees always in the utmost beauty. We live here far away from any bad things or humans who want to harm us or destroy our life style. We are happy with each other, and live and play and hunt together too.
But do let me explain one more piece before I tell my story. Yes we are different from anything ever before, but we are not of evil. We are
Very misunderstood as the freaks they call us on. We are all Christians and this is how God chose to make us. There is nothing we can do about it. We don’t lie, cheat, and steal or any sin like that. We are just how He made us.
Oh! I keep saying “we”, maybe I should introduce us to you. I am a female timber wolf in my transformed state. Then I have my brothers of three: Oakami and shadow are both black wolves, and my last brother is Kalkan, a red wolf. Those are the three that live with me. Then I have my sisters as well. I have more of them then my brothers, I have five in all: there is Rikku and Spirit. They are timber wolves as well such am I. Nikita and Topaz have the beauty as white wolves together. Then last is Zorah, a red wolf.
These are all of the “us” I spoke of. We all live together and live well. But of course we will face our problems and have had few-some before. But without them, they’re might not be my tale to tell.
I’ll start where we are in the forest one day. Bright, suns shining and its nice and warm out under the shade of our trees. We were just lounging around in our human forms talking about any random thing we decided to say.
“I don’t know why we don’t get to many days like this anymore.” I said. “What? It’s just another plain day Sakura.” she said back. “Why cant you just enjoy it spirit?” I said. “It’s too bright, I hate it when the suns out completely like this.” she complained. “Jeez! Why are you always so skeptical and whiny? You can be so negative sometimes!” I told her.
“Knock it off already you two! Sheesh!” Oakami suddenly said in the midst of it, “if it’s such a nice day Sakura, then why are you just being lazy and laying here in the grass instead up and playing?” he said with a slight tinge of sarcasm. He was lying back up on a big branch high up in a tree next to where we all lay.
“Fine!” I said, “You want to play? Then catch!” I yelled, and then I picked up a nearby stone and just heaved it his way. He wasn’t paying a slight bit of attention and it got him right in his side. He flailed his arms to keep his balance, but ended up falling off from up on the branch. He plummeted down into some bushes below.
We all laughed at his misfortunate and expense, but I’m sure he didn’t see it the same. A few minutes of laughs left and we all just chuckled lightly, yet he had not come out yet. Instead, a menacing looking black wolf jumped from the bushes and charged at me with some impressive speed. Apparently he was mad and wanted to wrestle to settle it.
He probably thought he had me by how much of a surprise his attack was, but by the time he had reached near me, I was already in a crouched position as a timber wolf and no longer human formed. I jumped up and onto him when he tried to ram me. We wrestled around a bit in a ball of fur it looked of, well, till he bit me a bit too hard on my front leg.
I released my grip that I had of him and tumbled back as I returned to human form. “Ow! That hurt!” I said. “Well the don’t throw stuff at me!” Oakami yelled. “Yeah! I’m bleeding now you mutt!” I yelled with a growl. “Alright! That is enough now! Knock it off!” Zorah said as she jumped in between us. She was always trying to stop our Constance of fighting.
“I’m going to the river to wash up and clean out my wounds thanks to this idiot.” I said to them all, “Would you like to come with me Topaz?” I asked. “Sure! I’d love to swim.” she said very excited. Topaz was the youngest of the pack. She was twelve years of age. The rest of us were fifteen, sixteen, or seventeen years of age at the time. She was shy, and a little under matured for her age. She was easily hurt in her feelings due to her sensitivity. Yet she was still beautiful and her eyes had a glow in them naïvely to the forests.
“Ok then! I’ll race you!” I said. She nodded with a smile. We shifted quickly and smoothly into our wolf forms. “Go!” I yelled, and dashed off, she followed closely behind.
We arrived there panting no more than a short while lately. She was fast for her age and strengths. We rested to catch our breath, and then plunged deep within the cool waters of the calmed river. It was all fun and splashing as we played together in the clear clean water. After some time, we settled and just floated on the top of the water.
“Why do you fight with brother Oakami so much Sakura?” she broke the silence with. That was a difficult one to answer. “Well puppy girl, I guess we just don’t agree sometimes and we don’t like that we can’t agree.” I answered as I stared up. “But why sister? I don’t like it when you two fight.” she said sadly. “Well, we don’t hate each other now. Don’t worry! We’ll be ok! Nothing could keep us apart or make us dislike each other. We’ll always be a family, remember that.” I stated to show her it really was ok.
I slipped under the water quickly and grabbed a fish stealthily that had been swimming around my ankle for a small time. I brought him up in my grasp and shook the water off my face and hair. I extended my hand with the fish out to her. “Hungry?” I asked. “Yes! Very. Thank you.” she said with a squinted smile. She took the fish in her claws and happily ate it there in a few bites. The fish was relatively small.
She finished eating and licked her paws clean as we floated still in the river. “Having fun?” I asked. “Yes I am, thank you for bring me along.” she said with the same squinted smile as before. It was so sincere and happy. “We must go soon. The others will wonder of us and where we are if we do not return soon from now.” I told her. I could tell she hated the idea of giving up our time together. It had meant so much to her. She needed so much attention. Since what with our parents not being there, we all had to take more with her. She was especially fond of Zorah and I.
It was time to leave and bid farewell to the comforting waters back to the safe luxuries of our den. The night would be coming in a while and we all like to be together then. “Come on girl! It is time to leave!” She moaned and griped a bit, but obediently obeyed my command.
We swam to the shores and out onto the soft soils. We shook off and then dashed off again back to what we called our home. We laughed a bit on the way at the fun we had. She couldn’t wait to tell shadow about all the fun she had. He was he only male she really took to enough to tell things too. He didn’t mind. We were close to the den and could already smell the others scents wafting through the breeze. We were almost home.
