Name: David Meredith
Age: 30
Location: Shinjo City, Japan
Occupation: English Teacher
Writer/Reader/Agent? writer & reader, but I'd like an agent

A bit about [dmeredith]
I work at a public middle school in Yamagata City where I honestly have a whole lot of free time to write. I'm married with a daughter and another littl'un due in May. I love Japan and would recommend coming here to anyone. There's something about being able to go to a local temple and know folks were coming here 1000 years before you that is humbling and inspirational somehow.

So tell us a bit about your writings:
Most of what I write is fantasy, but I try and experiment in anything that pops into my brain. I also have done some academic writing and that's on here too.

How long have you been writing, have you ever come across a piece you wrote when you were younger?
I've been writing since I was in about 4th grade actually on and off. I just had a real problem with finishing anything. I just finished my first novel, but it is certainly not the first novel I started. Honestly it's #4 under serious attempts.

Are there any techniques, writing aids that you use, or do you use anything to help inspire you such as images or music?
I listen to J-pop on internet radio sometimes, but the big thing is to write when I feel moved to do it regardless of when or what. I carry a little black book around just for when bouts of inspiration assail me.

Are there any writers that you would aspire to, or look up to?
In particular I like Tad Williams, Robert Jordan and J.R.R. Tolkien. Robin Hobbe is great too.

What is your favourite book?
Best book ever = To Green Angel Tower, Third book in the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy. I waited for that one with bated breath for over a year and it was soooooo worth it.

Do you have any tips that you could pass on to other members?
Whatever you do keep writing. Even if it's not what you're focused on at the moment, sometimes getting away from your pet project and doing something else will free up your brain to get on with what you are trying to finish later.

Anything you'd like to add or promote? ;)
Just read my newest story "The Date" under my writings and comment/leave a score. also check out my other work at http://www.elfwood.com/libr/d/m/dmeredith/dmeredith.html
