A full moon overhead, sinister fire-smiles in round orange pumpkins, bare tree branches tearing at the sky like so many claws... and the scent of a dying October in the air.

In the spirit of Halloween, I present a writing challenge of toad's eye and wolf's fang. The challenge is this: Account a tale of Halloween night, be it a tale to chill the    and rattle the bones or one to amuse... but make it such a fiction as to make me believe that one October night you encountered a creature not of this world, be it ghost, goblin, vampire, man-wolf, or living   .

Rules:

1. 1000 words minimum.

2. You must write about an encounter with one of the creatures described:
-Goblin
-Witch
-Werewolf
-Ghost
-Zombie
-Vampire
(Others may be acceptable. Please check with me first.)

3. The phrase "the scent of a dying October in the air" must be used.
