My dreams tend to have understandable plots/timelines, though not always strong by fiction standards. And they do use a lot of symbols.
  I remember one dream I've had that I really want to write down because there was actually a narrative in the background noise, but I'm not sure how to actually write it down, especially since the narrator actually spoke very little, and I just felt his presence and kind of understood that he was talking through the rest. (You know how it is in dreams sometimes, you just know you are seeing one thing, though if you were in the waking world, you would believe you were perceiving something totally different.)
