Music Prompt

<img:http://writersco.heddate.com/stuff/writersco_divider2.jpg>

Welcome to the Music Inspiration Writing Prompt section! Are you up to the challenge of writing to a piece of music you may have never heard? There are no losers, only winners. There are no prizes save the knowledge that you just expanded your storyverse even just slightly.

The Guidelines.

Or: how this all works.

- Download the monthly clip and listen to it. Let it draw a story or poem from within you.

- Write whatever the clip inspires you to write. Be that poem or story. Be that essay or fiction. Take as long as you like to finish it. It's not a contest, though we hope it aims at broadening your horizon and skill.

- Share your work by uploading it to the superwiki-pages and add it to Music Prompt Links.

And da-da-da-da-da-datz all, folks! That's all there is to the prompt. We would advise you to stick to a flash fiction length (around 600 words) for stories, but if the clip inspires you to write longer pieces, let it.

Monthly Clip

http://www.musmakers.com/154.Monday.monday.mp3?n=1128907007

This was donated by Mystik Prophet at www.musmakers.com, and is six minutes of mellow beats with some nicely done synth-guitar arpeggios on top.

2005-07-30 [Mister Saint]: Ehm... my apologies to all those who don't care for MIDI format. I hope to get some better types here before too awfully long.

2005-12-21 [Aradon Templar]: If you're ever in desperate need of music files and you're out of luck at MusMakers (hopefully it'll neer come to that :D ), you could always check out http://www.ocremix.org/ . It's a remix site for video games that's got a nice variety of pieces, some appropriate, and some not so useful for a writing prompt.

2005-12-21 [Aradon Templar]: I like this one, for example, though I don't know how easily you could attain the artist's permission, if you need it. It's a nice remix from Metroid Prime ^^ (http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01286/)

2005-12-21 [Mister Saint]: I visit OCremix all the time, myself, but the copyright belongs to the remixers and original composers. ^^ Unfortunately, this has shown so little interest that has been all but discontinued. ^^

2005-12-21 [Font]: Perhaps then someone else would be willing to look after this area to bring it back... Little interest is still interest.

2005-12-21 [Mister Saint]: I dunno. I distinctly remember giving up all my privs and positions weeks ago, though, so it obviously can't be me. ^^

2005-12-21 [Font]: That's why I was suggesting someone else to look after this.

2005-12-22 [Aradon Templar]: I think it was a good idea, and I'm going to keep an eye on this page, but I don't know if I'll come up with anything from the prompt. Maybe once the site gets larger, it'll attract more attention.
