I’m pressing so hard against the paper
the sheet tears
the ink bleeds through.
I lift up the sheet.

“I love you”
small indentions visible
in the gleam of lamplight.

I sigh.
The once admission
becomes a projectile
soaring across the room
to land in the trashcan
filled to the brim
with my many many
Unsent letters.

At least this time
I could say the paper tore.
