Nanowrimo Bootcamp
*uses loud army voice* So you think you can write a novel in just one month do you?! Well, we will see about that! If you want to be a true Nanowrimo participant and to make it through the trenches of November you have to prove yourself! Now get on with it!
Activity One
Timed writing assignment. Set aside half an hour for writing. Sit down with either a pen and paper or at your computer (whichever you will use for writing your novel in November) and write for half an hour. Do not go over this time limit. Just write as you normally would. Record your word count.
Start again. This time do not stop for anything. Avoid all distractions and ignore your "inner-editor"
. Doesn't matter what you write about. Doesn't matter what kind of grammar or spelling or mistakes you make. Just write about something. DO NOT PRESS BACKSPACE OR DELETE!! Leave all mistakes in, they only slow you down. At the end of half an hour, record your word count for that time period.
If you do this properly, you will have learnt the first lesson of Nanowrimo. It's about quantity, not quality. Also we will repeat the second half of this activity at the end of October and see if you have improved any at locking away your "inner-editor" and writing for quantity.
Post your activities here to prove you completed them:
Activity Two
Sign up for Nanowrimo! The new site is now launched! Go sign up! Explore the forums! Find your local region! Get to know people!
Activity Three
Start piecing together a plot. Do a 100 word outline of what will happen in your story. Don't worry if this isn't finalized. It's only 100 words so let it be vague. Just a general sense of what is going to go on.
Activity Four
Need some inspiration? Try taking on some dares!! Go to Dares.
Activity Five
Come back on Friday for your next challenge!
