Well, it's done. 268.Metal Daze
As always when I finish a longer story I feel a little out of sorts. Like *What to do now?* sorta thing, if you know what I mean. All that energy and time invested. One gets a little attached to working on a project, then all of a sudden, it's not there to work on anymore because it's done. (Not that I couldn't do edits mind you)
Anyway, I hope people take the time to read it. Especially those who said they were looking forward to it's completion. I had a lot of fun writing it. It brought back a lot of memories, both good and bad.
Yea, I know my recent project 268.Metal Daze might seem a little self indulgent but regardless...I think you might enjoy it anyway!!! :D It's just got that kinda vibe to it. Kinda laid back with...
anyway (*cough*)
Yea, check it out if you have time. :D
The deadline has been extended for Free to write contest Absolute Horror. The new deadline is March 15th.
The latest installment of 268.Metal Daze, 268.Metal Daze.Chapter 5 - Saginaw has been uploaded, for anyone following along. Comments welcome as always. :)
A shot out and welcome to my friend [MFaughn] who has recently joined Writersco. Stop by and check out his works. (good stuff)
I seem to be out of my slump with my latest contest entry for when life turns against you at Free to Write. 268.Mandy's Retribution. Be warned though: sensitive material. If you've never peeked at a romance novel, some parts of this may offend.
Glad to see entrants lined up for Absolute Horror. Looks like we got a good group of participants so far. Still plenty of time to join!
A bit on the depressed side of things these past few days and I havn't done much in the way of writing.
It seems the organization that was my sole support within the comunity has deamed me well enough to go it alone, suggesting I look for other forms of emotional support.
I can't complain about being better I guess. It just feels like the abyss has opened beneath my feet.
Shameless advertising...
<joinforum:15:join> (WC Contests) could use more participation. Stop in and discuss any aspects of contests.
Free to write contest Absolute Horror needs more contestants. Deadline...end of Feb.

Congrats to [Mister Saint] for taking 1st in Flipside's What he said contest/exerci
Good job and thanks for entering all!
*Slinks off to see what else he can dream up*
Ok, a couple new things in place from the New Ideas Team. Check em out folks...
Trying to brainstorm ways to encourage the reading and/or commenting/cri
Joining the new ideas team may have been a decent first step. I welcome any thoughts or ideas along those lines.
[Po] is going in for oral surgery today. She has to have three teeth yanked (a wisdom and two others). We anticipate that she'll be rather sore and rather out of it for a few days. Both of us will likely be scarce as I'll (with the help of [*Amy*] and [Fuzzysabeast]) be trying to pick up the slack around the house.
I may still be on in the early morning but probably won't be on much during the day/evening hours for a while.
Don't forget to send support and huggles to [Po]!
New writings last month: 300
I havn't been here long enough to know if that's a record or not, but it's pretty awesome. 10 per day on average.
Pondering...
Why the lack of interest in some of the wikis under Writer's Challenges/Fun
I didn't realize there was a Writing Critique wiki until today. By the looks of things there, I'm thinking others may have overlooked it as well.
It's always nice to be read. Especially when we put such hard work into our craft. We should also dedicate some time to reading and commenting on our fellow writers. We all deserve our work to get some attention IMO, and an honest crit helps the one giving as well as the one receiving.
peace out
Kind of a drag. I heard about this neat new writing group at a site my fiance belonged to. It was supposed to be there to help writers become better writers through contests and exercises. Joining, I found it was better than I imagined...a writing group where people actually participated, and where my own involvement was welcome and appreciated. I havn't had this much fun in a coon's age.
But now I learn that people are unhappy that the group even exists here and that the groups own existance is now threatened do to some drama I had nothing to do with.
There's a lot of cool stuff on this site and there should be room for all of it.
A bit of news concerning my writings. I've started a new project entitled "The Staff of Illidon". It's a D&D style fantasy story. It's shaping up to be about the length of a novelette. I'm uploading the chapters to my writings at writersco.com (exclusively for now) so that members can read it without leaving the site. Praise be to my wonderful fiance [Po] who has helped immensely with proofreading and editing!

Hey, I'm Gene and I'm new here. I'm not much of a competative type so I really don't mind if I win the contests I enter or not. Just having fun and trying to hone my writing skills. Say hello or something since you are here. I like meeting new people. :D
