Subject: hopeful... (Texts: 1 )

i am the co-editor of a hopefully soon-to-be magazine for aspiring writers... that is, for aspiring writers to write for, and ...people... to read. however, for this to work, i need people to submit! short stories, poems, that sort of thing. much as i love them, no novels, this is a magazine after all... >.<  also, for all you artist types out there...there is also a logo competition going on right now. the name of the magazine is StarFire, so anything relating to that would be welcomed! feel free to message me for any details or additional info... if you have something that you'd like to submit, you can send it to me here, on elftown as RiddleRose, or to my email. smccallum@csw.org

thanks muchly! ^.^

Subject: Can an English-teacher use your short story? (Texts: 3 )

A friend's girlfriend is teaching some 8th-grades in English and she wants a short story that is about 5 printed pages (Yes, I know that can be very different.) that she can use.

So if you want to get famous in a class in Sweden and don't mind them using your story, then write me a message with a link to the story on Friday or earlier.

Of course the story should be written in proper English and it should be interesting for 15-year olds. Fantasy-theme was suggested, but anything will do as long as it's fun for them to read.

Subject: word (Texts: 3 )

word is a little word game that i started. all you have to do is put the first word that comes into your head after the prompt word. it's more fun when more people join, so come! see how random your mind really is, when you see the word cheese and think of gorillas... (or something like that ^-^ ) you might be surprised... or you might even get an inspiration! have fun!

Yes. A forum for people who like reading things they haven't written. Which means all of us.
<joinforum:16:meeple> (Literature)
Great for book fetishes, geeky literary device discussions, and reviews. Will probably be related to Recommended Reading in some way.

Get over here!

Subject: Help Wanted From Well-Researched People (Texts: 1 )

Technical Details is to be a research wiki for writers who need to learn the technical aspects of things they're writing about before they get too far in; things like swordplay and medieval warfare techniques, the workings of specific ecosystems, or a certain type of career that your character may have.
So far, there aren't many articles up, but you can write one if you like. I'm not really asking for people to go out and do whole research projects on the topics, but if you happen to already know about a topic, it would be great if you wrote about it.

Thanks :)

Subject: Enter, Traveller (Texts: 1 )

A mix of tag-writing and role-playing game, inspired by the good olde tabletop roleplaying games where you have the Game Master telling you that "you meet a woman on the back alley, what do you do." In this game you all will be that Game Master and no player or their action will ever be seen.
Have a look at least, I hpe it will be something you haven't seen before.
No previous rpg-experience necessary...

If anyone here is an Elftown member, you may be interested in the [Trochaic Poetry Contest@ wiki] of Elftown. Yep, that's right, poems in trochées (or trochees, if you're not crazy like me). Please enter. It should be fun.

Subject: A Livejournal Poetry Community (Texts: 1 )

The Unlazy Poets' Club is for all formats of poetry except free verse. It's not meant to be elitist against free verse, it's just an alternative to all of those communities which accept all poetic forms including free verse but then only get free verse because it's so popular.
  Please join. We need members.

We all know how hard it is to meet a deadline, especially when writing! Maybe you have set yourself a personal deadline - "I swear I will finish this chapter by the end of the week!" but find it hard to keep to it.

Ever wish you had someone there reminding you of that deadline? Or wish you could be reminded easily and frequently? Well now is your chance. Give us your details at My deadline, and we will add your deadline to the Main Page Calendar!

Catullus revived

The whole idea might be a bit confusing still, but I can only make changes if I have people commenting about it ^^

I want to get people to rewrite the old poems of Catullus and turn them into something new.

A prompt for a story has been placed at Tag Writing, but my paragraphs are getting lonely all by themselves. Don't make me whine like a seven-year-old girl with a boo-boo, because I can do it! Its not pretty, trust me. Come by and participate!

Subject: <poll:11> (Texts: 5 )

I'm thinking of reviving Sugarfix Gardens, from Elftown, and putting it here on Writersco. The premise was similar to that of Tag Writing, only the story was meant to be purely comedic and nonsensical. It was strictly to amuse and allow writers to take a break from 'serious' writing... except it ended up dying in obscurity over at ET. I'm thinking it might do better here, but I'm interested in what everyone else thinks. I don't want to put a bunch of effort into something that won't work, so let me know at <poll:11>.
