National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a hectic, and sometimes stressful period for authors who participate. This is a support page for the writers on this site who are participating this year. Finishing the 50,000 word novel in just thirty days is more than an accomplishment, it is a feat not attained by many. To improve the standards, quality and completeness of your novel, I am writing these words and giving you this area to rally. Each day, I will take time out from my novel, and post an inspirational quote. Please take these quotes to heart, don't give up, just keep writing. Even if it is the most boring piece of work ever, it it makes no sense, 50,000 is still an accomplishment and a journey. HERE WE GO!

Day One

This is when you understand why it's called a challenge.

Those words aren't totaling five thousand like you thought. You thought you had written so much, and it's only four hundred words. Just keep going and ignore your count as much as you can. Don't go for total, go for content and the total will come.

It's Survival of the Fittest

Glory awaits those who can make it through November.

Some die early on, it happens, there's always the victim who just can't cut it for one reason or another. They try to pace themselves, look ahead, and focus on their goals but the end creeps closer to them. They fall victim to another year of hardships in this, the most challenging of months.

There are those who can make it through, but barely. Those who survive on sheer will power and a lot of effort. Sure, they came close to dying but they made it somehow. Through determination and luck they ran, jumped and hid until they survived and are able to call themselves the survivors.

Then there are those who live the month, they find it easy and sometimes fun to take that hit or that shot in the dark. Those who can live through November with a smile on their face and a good solid idea. They are the professionals or the ones who have trained for this day. They can live.

To dominate is to be a crazy son of a bitch who laughs then takes a nap while time is simply ticking away. They easily finish November then enjoy the ride of watching others try to do what they did. With weapon in hand they started and with victory way behind them they finished. They dominated November with a punch to the face.

Who are you? Which one will you be this month? November is slowly dying and the end is coming for you, do you panic? Or do you get a stick and challenge it head on in a crazed one-on-one combat. It's not just about finishing anymore, it's about outlasting.

When the November challenges end, each participant will be awarded according to the standards set here:

Victim – Failed to meet the challenge. (Less than 47,000 words or less than 28 characters)

Survivor – Close enough, but not quite. (47,000–49,999 words or 28–29 characters).

Lived – Good job, you earned it. (50,000–54,999 words or 30–33 characters).

Dominated – You're f-ing crazy. (55,000+ words or 34+ characters).

Good luck and don't die.

2011-11-06 [Annie]: Haha, that's a good thing. Unfortunately my weekend and next week are jam-packed with studying and tests. Not the greatest time for NaNo, but life goes on! I'm feeling pretty good about my plot/story line. I wasn't expecting an idea to come up before NaNo started, I thought I'd just have to wing it like I usually do. I also wasn't expecting for my idea to be so conducive to a plot...but I pretty much always know where to take the story next. It's much easier than previous NaNo ideas! Too bad I don't have more time to write!

2011-11-07 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Ugh, yeah time is really bad. That's awesome that you've got a plot line going! Interesting that you normally don't. I'm not very good with winging it. I would quit half-way through V.v Probably less than half-way through!

2011-11-07 [Annie]: Haha, ya...I'm just not very good at coming up with ideas for stories, that's why I don't usually have a plot. I'm more of a nonfiction/creative nonfiction writer. NaNo doesn't really leave room for nonfiction though so I sometimes have a hard time.

2011-11-07 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Ah yeah, I mean you can be a 'rebel' on there and do non-fiction right? For me, it's the other way. I have a lot of ideas for plot but getting it all done is a pain.

2011-11-08 [Ash]: I've been working constantly, this is the first time in days I get to write... Ugh, I'm so far behind.

2011-11-08 [Ash]: DAY 7: 11669 words

2011-11-08 [Annie]: You're not the only one! >.<

2011-11-09 [Annie]: Ouch, 5000 words behind. Too bad I have two exams this week >.<

2011-11-14 [Annie]: You're doing awesome Primal! I'm terribly behind.

2011-11-14 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Oh, thank you :D I'm going to try and get just above the mark today. My boyfriend is already a few K past the half-way point. I'm really proud of him but also a little annoyed! And I'm sure you can catch up [Annie]! And even if you're not able, just keep going and see where you end up at the end. When my computer went down for a few days I thought I wouldn't be able to catch up and I did.

There, I suppose that's a mini-pep talk!!

2011-11-14 [Annie]: Haha :P Well, I wrote a lot today that I need to type. Hopefully I'll get at least 3000 words out of it...crossing my fingers. I threw some drama in to get me writing more, seems to have worked pretty well. :)

2011-11-14 [Annie]: Got my 3,000 words or so out of the writing so far today...we'll see if I can do anymore. I still have to study!

2011-11-14 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Congrats! And yes, drama always helps :D Good luck with your studying.

2011-11-24 [Ash]: I'm glad you all are doing well, I however have some bad news. About Nov 6, my laptop died. The battery will no longer sustain any charge and due to this even the power cord cannot make it work. Two days later, my desktop's hard drive died. We are looking to get it replaced soon. Later that same day, my boyfriend's computer (which already had the 'f' key not working) broke, one of the hinges came completely off the the other one is really trying to break free. On top of that, four more key's gave way and only work selectively now. I'm on my mom's computer right now, but I won't be on that often. Needless to say, my Nano didn't get far off the ground because of this. After Christmas Al and I will have a new laptop, a present from his dad, so I promise I'll be on more as soon as we get it. Sorry to kind of die off but I can barely find time to get my school work in as I can't always have this computer when I need it.

2011-11-24 [Annie]: Totally understandable, good luck!

2011-11-24 [Veltzeh]: How about if you remove the battery altogether and use the power cord alone? That way it should work, I think.

2011-11-24 [Annie]: I've beem doing that for years >.<

2011-11-25 [Ash]: I've tried that a couple of times before, but mines an old model like 8 years old or more, it needs the battery to boot, which is dumb, but whatever. Al's dad bought us a Viao last night while we were over there so I may be able to start writing again, which would be nice as I've had people complaining that I haven't updated in a while.

2011-11-25 [Annie]: We've missed you here at NaNo support :)

2011-12-02 [Ash]: Good news is I'm back, the day after it's over... We got it last night and did the recovery discs today. Yay, I'm back! :D

Anyway, I'm hopefully going to be starting a new story soon as my NaNo didn't get off the ground. I'm not sure whether to make it a comic or not... I'm getting to the point where I think I could...

2011-12-02 [Annie]: Yay! :) I didn't make it unfortunately...
