Storyshop

Storyshop is a round table writing workshop for those serious about seeking publication. Its committee members will critique and analyze each others' works, searching for errors so that editors will have nothing to edit during the publishing phase.

2007-05-22 [Calann]: Hmmm, interesting. *haunts*
I won't be submitting anything, because unless I move to Britain or North America, I won't be getting any of my English text officially published either way - or, at the very least, it would be darned much more difficult.

2007-05-23 [Mister Saint]: It makes sense. Well, you're certainly welcome here, anyway!

2007-05-24 [Mister Saint]: I'm working on the review. ^^ It's been a while since I've given a serious one, so I'm hoping to shake off the rust so it'll be useful. ^^

2007-05-24 [Annie]: Hello Mistah Saint, any rules on becoming a participant here? I didn't see any on this page, but I also didn't see a link to any rules. Other than the basic rules of conduct obviously.

2007-05-24 [Mister Saint]: Um... well, there really isn't a rules page this time. Just adhering to the guidelines above. There might be one later, but I didn't feel like making a big elaborate wikipage this time. *nods*

2007-05-25 [Mister Saint]: Review's up! Hope it helps.

2007-05-25 [Annie]: Mm, ok. I'd like to join, so do I just put my name up under participants and then review what's already here?

2007-05-25 [Mister Saint]: Sure. What I'd like to do eventually is 'everybody reviews one piece at a time' format, but until we get a few more members we can just all review 'em all.

2007-05-25 [Mister Saint]: What does everyone think about having multiple reviewers on one wikipage? I can fix up a table of contents for each one where you can click down to each reviewer's section, if it's useful to do it that way. ^^

2007-05-25 [Mister Saint]: Also, I'm thinking about another thingy. Wouldn't it be kinda cool to each have workshop specific buttons or badges or whatever? Like a star that says "reviewed by Annie" or some such, that we could slap on our writings pages and the review pages? Maybe if those start popping up, we can get more attention here?

2007-05-25 [Eleanor]: It's a thought.

2007-05-26 [Annie]: Ya that sounds like a cool idea. ^_^ It sounds fun and fills me with swirly girly loverliness. :P
It's also a nice way to give some kind of confirmation or encouragement for the reviewing.

2007-05-26 [Annie]: Ok, I put a review up for the Little Mermaid, I hope I did it pretty much right. :)
AND I can't open Sashenka...I don't think my computer supports that file type.

2007-05-26 [Mister Saint]: it's a .rtf. You'll have to save it to your computer and open it with your word processor. ^^ None of the .html formats were working o.O.

2007-05-26 [Mister Saint]: Okay, here's another thing. I've got an example of what I mean by the reviewer badges up at the the little mermaid II in place of my name. We'll eventually have a page where people can grab those to put on the reviewed writings page, and I highly suggest we make certain to do so every time we get a review.

Note that, if you aren't overly artistic, someone else will probably help you make a button. If you are, feel free to do your own!

2007-05-26 [Annie]: I love yours Mister Saint, I think it's cute. :) So...would it be possible to put these little buttons up in our page descriptions as well? Perhaps a link to the story and then put the button next to the link?

2007-05-26 [Mister Saint]: *ponder ponder* well, my button's awfully big, and if there ever got to be many of them it would get clunky, but sure.

2007-05-26 [Annie]: Mmm....I could see that. :)

2007-05-27 [Mister Saint]: *bounceness* We're actually rolling better than I'd expected, here. *nods* Whoo hoo!  ... hoo!

2007-05-27 [Annie]: I figured out your file format and put up my review of it. ^_^ I hope I wasn't too harsh...but this is about growing as a writer and what not. Should I put up a story of my choice that I would like reviewed?

2007-05-27 [Mister Saint]: Absolutely, yes. Remember, we're working on openings in particular right now. ^^
