What is Fan-Fiction?

Fan-Fiction or FF is any form of art that was made with the use of copyrighted creations that you DO NOT have permission to use (if you have permission it is not FF). Copyrighted creations include places, characters, items and ideas such as Hogwarts and Frodo Baggins. When writing FF, always remember to credit the author(s).

Where can I post my Fan-Fiction?

You may ONLY post FF on Wikis. The Writing Section is only for original writings. Remember to credit the owner on the wiki before making it public. Private messaging to invite someone to a page is NOT making it public.

What about collaboration?

In collaboration the copyright is split between the participating members. You must seek approval by all those taking part if you wish to use any creation in a private goal. Even with this you must credit the original source. If however you created the piece, then had others collaborate with you, you can continue to write about your original works, but for any work created whilst in participation you must seek consent.

What does Writersco think about Fan-Fiction?

We accept Fan-Fiction as a form of writing but encourage our members to write of their own accord by writing their own works.

2006-06-08 [Linn Scarlett]: Guys, my stories are set within the DnD realms (mostly the Forgotten Realms) and use several concepts and races connected to that world, such as the Drow (dark elves) whom my stories are mainly about. Though the locations and characters are made by myself.

2006-06-08 [Linn Scarlett]: Does that make it fanfiction?

2006-06-08 [Font]: I'm afraid so, if you use any content no matter how much or how little from other peoples work. As your stories are set in the Forgotten Realms and other DnD realms, and use the DnD created race Drow, it does mean your work is fanfiction.

2006-06-08 [Font]: I'll talk about this in the mod forum.

2006-06-08 [Veltzeh]: By the stuff we discussed previously, it was said that I needed permission to post my RPG related stuff (this RPG was created by a friend so it was possible)... so judging by that you'd need permission from the original creator, and how likely is that? X)

2006-06-08 [Font]: Yea I think this is the best approach to take,

2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: Well, if my stories are fanfiction then I will leave this place, for it's the only reason I came here. To upload them.

2006-06-09 [Font]: Rules are rules, sorry.

2006-06-09 [Linn Scarlett]: Then you might be wanting to tell all others that use the drow in their stories, by the way.

2006-06-14 [Kiddalee]: Drow aren't fanfiction per se, though DnD drow are. And by the way, I don't see why you can't improve as a writer through fanfiction. It's just that the Writings section has a more professional purpose.

2008-09-18 [Ash]: This page makes fan-fiction seem so wrong... It needs to be cheered up. On the rules we also need to move to "Permitted" since they are and make this a rules page for FF.

2009-06-23 [Akane; Il Sangue Bevitore]: ...*Cheating and probably making Hedda angry*

*Whispers* FanFiction.Net is an amazing place to check out FanFiction! <3

2009-06-23 [Ash]: I know, I'm on there. It doesn't make people angry, also, you can go to the wikis and post your ff there if they're not too big.

2009-06-24 [Akane; Il Sangue Bevitore]: Mine usually are. What kind of fanfiction do you write?
