Thank you, programmers, for putting a Your blog button at the top nav bar. That makes bits of life snappier.

Subject: Bug: Logged Out User HTML (Texts: 1 )

I've noticed that when a guest user makes a comment, any formatting they use shows up as plain text. It seems reasonable that they can't use all of the pseudo-HTML. However, even their line breaks (pressing the "Enter" key) don't show up for them after they have entered their comment. Oddly enough, the tags and formatting, which they entered from the outside, show themselves as properly rendered to anyone who's logged in. Moreover, comments that were written by logged in users are properly rendered, whether a viewer is logged in or out. I have examples of such comments at kiddatest (I discovered it with my friend at Communal Renku). Could you please enable guest users to see their rendering -- at the very least, line breaks? It would make the community friendlier to outsiders who could be potential new members. Thanks :)

(NOTE: Forgive me if I have already pointed out this bug. If I have, I've completely forgotten.)

Subject: Writersco vs. Elftown (Texts: 19 )

I've been a member of elftown for some time, in fact that's how I found WC, but I gave up on elftown a long time ago.
Elftown is a sad sad place to go, and despite the fact that WC has less people, it's MORE active than ET in the writing sphere. ET is pathetically inactive. Most of the writing contests are like ghost towns.
Also, it's so much easier to host a contest here on WC because of the writings system.
AND the people are a lot more friendly here at WC. I feel like a squash rolling on a busy street when I'm at ET, but on WC I can always look forward to a note here and there.
So pretty much, I'm just saying I love you all! Yay for WC!

When you view your own presentation, the page title is "Your house"... I suppose "presentation" should be used there as well.

Subject: Vel is cursed! XP (Texts: 1 )

Whenever I try to access [Veltzeh]'s Tales From Kyerrion writings by pressing Random text, I get an error saying things like:

The address type is unknown or unsupported
39.nanowrimo.2006:%20Tales%20from%20Kyerrion.1

So, basically, the beginning of the address is cut off until the user number.

So far, it's only happened with Tales From Kyerrion (and anything under it), and only when those stories are picked randomly. I can access them just fine by clicking on them from the Newest Writings page, or navigating through Vel's library.
Edit: I also find the bug when I click on the link to it in Vel's mood. Poor person.

Just out of curiosity: When I press the Random Text button, is the selection of texts completely random? Or do the chances of being "randomly" picked increase for active members, or new writings?

Subject: Stylesheet Font Critique (Texts: 2 )

I've finally completed serifindex.css, to my best knowledge. Now, I was wondering if any of you tecchies could look over it and see if I've chosen a decent range of fonts. I don't know which fonts only work for Windows, and which work all over the place, you see.
Thanks in advance.

When you watch someone's top index page, it doesn't notify when they add a subpage, does it? Yet that would be the handiest thing ever.

Subject: Inaccessible Writings (Texts: 1 )

I have a tester writing that is set as Viewable by forum members only... and editable by owner only. I'm glad that people can't see it on the New Writings page. However, they can see the link to it if they click on my username and then check in my library. I think they shouldn't be able to. I was hoping it would be completely invisible to all but me and maybe some mods.

This forum can be used to discuss the commmunity too, so...

What would you do if you were a boss of WritersCo for the day? You could change anything you wanted or add any new feature. Would be interesting to see what you guys think about this one.

Subject: Search For A Writing By Length (Texts: 10 )

A suggestion for the search for writings criteria:

Minimum/maximum word/character count.

It'll make it easier to either find short poems or rule them out, among other things. I think it would also be helpful to add the option to order found writings by length, not just name or date posted.

There is a wiki-page search on the side panal, where you can type in the name of the page and go to it. What about doing the same for the writing pages as well?

Subject: Bug? (Texts: 3 )

In my sub-index for short stories (135.Short stories), there's a link at the bottom to my poetry sub-index (135.Poetry). However, I do not recall putting it there, and it's not visible in the edit box. I was wondering if this might be a bug.
I don't really have anything against having the link there, it just bugs me that I don't know the hell it's doing there.

Subject: The log in page (Texts: 5 )

It doesn't fit on my screen, even when the window is maximised. o.O And I don't think my screen is particularly tiny (Elfpack has a similar setting and it fits).
The boxes where you type the name and the password and all the way below "my deadline" so a lot of empty blueness to scroll through to reach them... :( Could it be a little slimmer?

Subject: Confusing Bug From Renaming the Index (Texts: 2 )

Not that I hadn't guessed at it before, I have confirmed the hard way that you can't give your top index a name. Now, I'm not sure exactly what I've done underneath all this, but I'll go through it with you.
I went to my top index and clicked on the "Rename page" button. I then renamed it, RErenamed Index. It turned out that doing that did not actually name the index, but moved all of its contents to a new subpage by that name. I find it understandable that one cannot rename the index, but I think it's misleading to leave the name of Rename this page and all its subpages as such. It makes it sound like you can.

In attempt to move everything back to the top index at once, I went to 225.REnamed Index, clicked on "Rename page", and then erased the name. I would have expected it to just remove the page in between. Instead of putting everything back, though, it just changed the page name to . as in a dot. 225.
What's even more confusing is that the subpages are double-dotted, and 225.. also exists. Yet the subpages link down from the Top Index as well as 225. and 225..
So, how was I supposed to move everything back? Is there currently a way to do so without going through each and every subpage to change its name? I know that typing (Top Index) would just create a subpage by that name. *confuses*
(And FYI, I have individually moved 225..Poetry back to its rightful location, 225.Poetry. WC didn't do that on its own.)

I've created a new wiki - Pump up the Pop for everyone to help encourage each other to pump up the population of WritersCo.

Our members are starting to go down again, we now have less than 100 active members, with not very many new applications coming in. So let's all pull together and help the community grow some more.

It is your community as much as it is anyone elses.

Erm... is it just me, or is there suddenly no difference between the way WC is reading h1 and h2 tags right now? Is it the stylesheet, or some instability, or a temporary result of you programmers mucking around?
