Subject: Fortunately, Unfortunately (Texts: 1 )

Fortunately, there is a new word game here on Writersco.

Unfortunately, very few people have discovered it, as of yet.

Fortunately, this should be easy enough to remedy.

Get over there!

Subject: We Need Nominated Writings (Texts: 2 )

Has everybody been considering the Featured Writings in their perusals through WritersCo? It would be nice to get some Nominated Writings on the list. Read anything worth featuring in the past month? If so, post it! Or, you could just add an extra nomination to whatever is already there... But we need something up there, first!

Subject: Have A Community Group That Needs Exposure? (Texts: 1 )

Then get your stuff on the news (<<< clicky).

What We Are Looking For
• Contest groups, or themed contest sections.
• Private forums that have a lot specifically to do with writing (or reading).
• Wikis organising a large or serious project that isn't expected to die.
• Book clubs.
• Well organised role-playing groups that aren't expected to die.
• Resource or database wikis that members may not have to contribute to all the time, but are ongoing and will benefit Writersco in the long run.
• Wikis that the members have to contribute a lot to in order to benefit from, but make this easy to do.

You should also read the rest of Get Your Stuff On The News to see what we're not looking for, and then, and only then, apply to the news if you're interested. Come on. You know you want to!

Yup, we've finally broken down and installed a mature wing, where themed contests just like Flipside has always enjoyed can have f*ck words in them! ^^ Seriously, though, the new page is ONLY for ages 17 and up. If you're interested in adult-themed contests and excercises, contact [Mister Saint] or [Fuzzysabeast]!

Subject: New wiki for readers and bookphiles! (Texts: 1 )

BBC
aka
Backwards Book Chart.

Everyone welcomed to make a wiki of their reading habits -- in a chronologically backwards order (so the latest is at the top) -- to inspire discussion about literature, get reading recommendations, getting people to read your work here and other WC-users' work (so pretty much the same goal as everything in the WC... :P But including wiki-creation! :P)

So bookphiles and list-addicts should bring themselves to the wiki immediately.

Subject: Blurbs! (Texts: 1 )

blurbs is a page I've started about, well, er... blurbs. Those things that either sell the book to you when you pick it up and glance at the back, or make you cast it down in horror.

It's a place to share ones you've written, see how people think they sound (good, or bad), or even get help with writing one (well, once enough people are looking!). Maybe even, if you get struck with inspiration, you might want to share that inspired blurb with others and see what they write in response to it.

The way it goes is all down to the people who join, after all.

Scams contains a list of things to avoid in the writing world, including but not limited to shady agents, vanity publishers, and contests. You should visit this page!
Also, if you know of any scams that aren't listed on it, please stick them at the bottom of the page and I will check them out.

(PS:The rest of the Writer's Resource could always use help, as well.)

Subject: Readers Wanted! (Texts: 1 )

As those of you who already know me have probably heard ad nosium I am nearing the end of the first draft of my novel (currently tentitively titled 'The Sankei Chrincles', but that will probably be the series title not the individual novel). I'm going to start pitching it this spring, but I would like some folks to mosey on over to my presentation and take a look. I always appreciate constructive critisism about anything, but specifically I am looking for some sort of concensus about which section of the piece would be best to send out as a sample chapter. I'll get the completed document up as soon as its finished, but most of what I've got right now is already up. I've proofed it briefly but haven't done significant revisions yet. I plan to work on that extensively after I finish the first draft but I will say that I've gotten positive feedback so far from the people who have been reading it already. Anyway, if anyone has got some time please take a look and let me know what's good, bad, and/or ugly! You can also check out the short pieces I've got up too, but you should probably steer clear of the academic articles unless you're really into English Second Language Education! Anyway thanks! <sits down in front of screen and waits for comments to come pouring in>
