Welcome to your advice column!

As members of Flipside, I know we are dedicated to improving our writing and helping our fellow writers to do the same. In that vein, I present to you this wiki dedicated to answering your questions!

Feel free to add a question in the area below. Depending on a number of criteria, I will choose one question to adress on a weekly basis. As soon as I have completed my reply, I will post a link to a wiki containing both question and answer. If there are multiple questions along the same theme, these may also be included.

You may choose to post anonymous questions, but it is not recommended. Anonymous questions will be put on lowest priority.

Questions

[1. SleepingDragon - Descriptions of people (and working them into the story) are kind of tough for me for some reason. Any advice?] Response below.

[2. Moorn - I'd like to know a little bit more about pacing. Any tips on how to properly keep a story flowing, without giving away too much or too little?] Response below.

3. [Askoga] - I have a lot of problems with scenes where you don't want to say anything plainly, but you want the reader to understand what's going on. Can you help me here?

4. [Fuzzysabeast] - When using first person narration, when is it time to switch between the narration and the story itself?

2006-01-31 [SleepingDragon]: I got a question...When's dinner? ;)

2006-01-31 [Mister Saint]: Why do I think you're gonna get smacked for that?

2006-01-31 [SleepingDragon]: Why do I think I'll be cooking tonight? :D

2006-02-01 [Po]: I'm just surrounded by smarty tushes, ain't I?

2006-02-08 [Fuzzysabeast]: Yep! He cooked!

2006-02-08 [Fuzzysabeast]: The kind of smacking Sleepy D gets, he enjoys too much

2006-02-08 [SleepingDragon]: shh! lol

2006-02-09 [Fuzzysabeast]: lmao

2006-02-17 [Kaimee]: ...smacking and tushes aside, this advice column is awesome o.o

2006-02-18 [Po]: Yay! Now utilize it, dammit! *waggles her finger menacingly*

2006-02-18 [Fuzzysabeast]: There you go brat, now you can stop nagging me to post a question. But you can always bug [*Amy*]! *throws a minnow at Po*

2006-02-19 [Po]: Now I get to nag everyone else! How fun! :D

2006-02-21 [RiddleRose]: ooh, a minnow! *feeds minnow to a random kitty*

2006-02-21 [Po]: *wonders if it's the same minnow that went on a three-hour tour* *evil grins*

2006-02-21 [Fuzzysabeast]: If it's that same minnow then where's the super model?

2006-02-21 [Mister Saint]: Sorry... I ate her. I thought a light snack was a good idea. ^+^

2006-02-21 [Fuzzysabeast]: Naughty, naughty Moorn! You're supposed to share dang it.*smiles*

2006-02-21 [Mister Saint]: Meh. I had to spit most of her out anyway. Plastic is hard to chew.

2006-02-21 [SleepingDragon]: so is silicone, lol

2006-02-21 [Fuzzysabeast]: OOOHHHHH I give up! *laughing*

2006-03-22 [Grey Wanderer]: Oh, depends what kind of plastic. If it's hard, yeah, but if it's realy rubbery it starts up a bouncing thing with your jaw so it's hard NOT to chew. :)
